2006 Spring Commissioning

       Thank you for trusting your boat with Kingman Yacht Center. Please complete and return the 2006 Spring Commissioning Form as soon as possible to schedule your launch date and commissioning needs.
       Kingman Yacht Center's Service Department provides full marine services year round. This winter, we completed a wide variety of projects including refitting, repowering, topside Awlgrip, and varnish work. If you would like to discuss any repair or refitting needs, we'd be happy to work with you to develop a program that suits both your budget and schedule.
       Please feel free to call our Service Department at (508) 563-7136, Ext. 45 to discuss your commissioning or launching questions, or any problems or concerns you may be having with your boat.
       Beginning April 15th, our Main Office will be open Monday through Saturday. On May 6th, we will be open 7 days a week. Please call ahead to confirm our weekend hours; they may be abbreviated in the Spring. We are always available to meet with you by appointment on weekends.
       Our Launch Service will be available on an off-season schedule beginning May 1st, and will begin full-time operations 7 days a week on May 20th. Water will be turned on in mid-April, weather permitting. Once again, thank you for choosing Kingman Yacht Center.

SPRING COMMISSIONING CHECKLIST

KEYS and/or COMBINATIONS

Boat keys must be on file for all winter-stored boats prior to launching. Please be sure to provide us with a set of boat keys and/or combination.

SPRING LAUNCH DATE & LAUNCHING REQUIREMENTS
Please note your Preferred Spring Launch Date in the top section of the Spring Commissioning Form. Although we cannot guarantee a specific date, we will do our best to consider your request. IMPORTANT: Prior to launching, all boats must have:
  • fully charged batteries installed;
  • operational bilge pumps;
  • keys or a combination on file;
  • a completed Spring Commissioning Form on file;
  • an executed Dockage/Mooring/Storage Contract on file, if applicable; and
  • all bills paid in full.
If you are requesting in-water commissioning or rigging services, please allow an additional week after launching for completion of commissioning.

VESSELS NOT STAYING WITH US FOR THE SUMMER
Winter Storage customers should notify Kingman Yacht Center of their planned departure date. If you plan to moor your boat with us after launching, please register at the office by completing a Dockage/Mooring Contract. (There will be no charge for your mooring for one week after your launching, or through May 17, 2001.) Vessels remaining longer than one week, or after May 17th, will be charged dockage or mooring fees at current daily rates if not contracted for seasonal dockage.

BOTTOM PAINTING
Kingman Yacht Center is the only authorized applicator of antifouling paints on site. (Please review the Restrictions section below.) Our Service Department recommends and stocks Pettit's Professional Coat Antifouling Paint Systems for Hard Copper Bottoms, and U.S. Paint Awlater Gold for Ablative Bottom Systems. These paints have proven to be the top performing systems in local waters. They are available in black, blue, green and red at a per quart cost of $25.00 (Hard Copper) and $40.00 (Ablative). An additional flat rate charge of $25.00 per boat is added to all bottom painting orders to cover miscellaneous materials such as tape, thinner, roller, sandpaper, protective products, etc.

All other antifouling paints are available by special order. We would be happy to quote you a price. If you choose to supply your own bottom paint, you must notify Kingman Yacht Center on your Spring Commissioning Form (See Prep & Paint Bottom section.) Your paint must be delivered to Kingman Yacht Center one month in advance of your launch date. All owners supplying their own bottom paint will be charged a $25.00 handling and disposal fee.

CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT PAYMENT
Kingman Yacht Center requests that all service customers set up a credit card payment system. This accounting convenience will assist us in honoring your requested launch date by avoiding last minute coordination of the required payment of outstanding bills. To do this, simply complete the Credit Card information in the Authorization section on your Spring Commissioning Form, or call Blake McLaughlin at Ext. 45 in the Service Dept.

RESTRICTIONS
At Kingman Yacht Center, boat owners are restricted from performing certain types of work on their vessels. These jobs have been prohibited primarily because of extensive regulations regarding disposal of toxic waste from paints, etc., and the potential liability of unregulated use of open flame. These services, therefore, can be performed only by authorized Kingman Yacht personnel. For complete details regarding any restrictions, please refer to the "Dockage/Storage Contract Terms & Conditions" accompanying your Winter Storage Contract. Thank you for your compliance. Please pay particular attention to the following:
  • No use of any open flame devices.
  • No installation of heat shrink covers.
  • No bottom preparation or painting.
  • No sanding or spray painting.

HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL
All waste oil, filters and batteries must be disposed of (a) where they were purchased or (b) at the Kingman Parts Department counter. Our Parts Department is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 4:15 pm. Handling charges: $1.50 per quart of oil, $2.00 per filter or $5.00 per battery.

Do not leave toxic/hazardous waste in or outside the dumpsters, or in any other location on site, as this is a violation of State and Federal regulations and may expose you to fines or other penalties Kingman Yacht Center takes great care to protect our environment and will prosecute violators to the fullest extent of the law.

ELECTRICITY & WATER
Electricity and water are available on the property. A fee of $50.00 is charged for the use of these utilities during the commissioning period. Water will be turned on following the last hard freeze, usually in mid-April.
